Abruzzo Unveiled: Italy’s Hidden Gem
Client: Augusto F. – Austin, TX
Type of holiday: Empty Nester trip
Budget for the land portion: 15,000.00/20,0000 USD
Client Brief: My wife and I have visited Italy five times, and now we’re eager to explore lesser-known areas. We’re passionate about nature, good food, and wine. Due to our busy work schedules, we can be away for a maximum of 12 days.
Special Request: No crowds and easy access to Rome
F&L Suggestion: Abruzzo is one of Italy’s lesser-known and unexplored destinations. It boasts massive mountain ranges, stunning lakes, the Adriatic coastline, UNESCO heritage sites, three national parks, and some of Italy’s most beautiful and fascinating medieval towns. Additionally, its eclectic and varied cuisine shifts from the mountains to the coast. With no crowds and easy access from Rome, Abruzzo caters to everyone.
Itinerary: For Augusto and his wife, we crafted an 8-day itinerary. They enjoyed private transfers, stayed in luxury accommodations, and, of course, experienced private guided tours. They explored 12 medieval towns, met local artisans, visited a saffron producer followed by a Saffron Masterclass, discovered a small wine producer for a visit to the estate with a tasting, sampled olive oil, hiked with shepherds, and visited a wolf reserve. They also immersed themselves in history and art at the Rocca Calascio Fortress and the fortress of Roccascalegna.
